SNT Energy, headquartered in Changwon, Gyeongnam, is showcasing its technological capabilities at the world’s largest power generation exhibition held in the United States.
On January 21, SNT Energy announced that it is participating in 'PowerGen International 2026,' which is being held in San Antonio, Texas, from January 20 for three days local time.
This event is the world’s largest power generation exhibition, covering everything from liquefied natural gas (LNG) power generation to nuclear and renewable energy. More than 500 companies, including major power generators, global EPC firms, large-scale energy consumers, and various equipment manufacturers from over 80 countries, are taking part.
At this event, SNT Energy plans to expand its global partnerships for LNG combined cycle power generation (HRSG) and surface condensers, which are key auxiliary devices in nuclear power plants.
Previously, in 1990, SNT Energy succeeded in localizing high-frequency fin tubes, a core component of HRSGs, for the first time in Korea. Since then, the company has developed independent design capabilities and production technology, supplying HRSGs to both domestic and international markets.
In 2014, SNT Energy was recognized for its technological prowess by supplying HRSGs using the super module method for the Ichthys LNG production project in Australia, marking the first time this approach was used by a Korean company.
The 'super module method' involves assembling the entire HRSG before transportation, allowing for immediate installation at the power plant site. This significantly reduces both on-site construction time and costs.
Building on its plant established last year in Louisiana, USA, SNT Energy plans to diversify its business by not only producing HRSGs and surface condensers locally in the United States, but also providing maintenance and a range of after-sales services for existing power plants across the country.
Through these efforts, the company aims to establish its power generation business as a core pillar, following its air cooler business, which currently holds the top global market share in the petrochemical sector.
In addition, based on its experience of failing to secure overseas HRSG orders due to not sufficiently reflecting the potential for exchange rate increases in bid prices when the dollar-won rate was below 1,300 won in 2023, SNT Energy plans to shift its bidding strategies for both overseas and domestic projects moving forward.
An SNT Energy official stated, "Through this PowerGen event, we will align ourselves with the global power industry’s efforts to overcome power shortages in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), and we will respond to the global HRSG market in various regions, including the United States, Japan, Poland, Vietnam, Taiwan, the Middle East, and Central Asia."
