The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education's educational facilities have been recognized as outstanding educational facilities for three consecutive years, marking yet another remarkable achievement in the field of educational facilities in South Korea.
On January 21, the provincial office announced that Gyujang Elementary School and Deogyang Middle School had each received an Excellence Award in the "2025 Korea Outstanding Educational Facilities Contest" organized by the Ministry of Education.
Suwon Gyujang Elementary School is a newly established integrated school for kindergarten, elementary, and middle school students, designed as a future-oriented school that responds to changes in society and the educational system. It features an innovative space that connects with multi-purpose facilities available for use by local residents.
A shared space has been placed between the elementary and middle schools, allowing for efficient use of facilities such as the library, multi-purpose auditorium, and administrative offices.
In particular, the library connected to the school forest serves as a space where relaxation and learning coexist in nature, providing a pleasant environment filled with sunlight, fresh air, and greenery, and offering a sustainable learning experience in harmony with nature.
Goyang Deogyang Middle School once faced the risk of closure due to a declining student population, but through the voluntary participation of the local community and school members, it was transformed into a user-centered, restructured school space created collaboratively by the educational community from planning to design.
By establishing smart classrooms, eco-friendly architecture, and ecological education spaces, the school has realized a future-oriented educational environment based on digital and eco-friendly principles, enabling creative and collaborative activities.
An official from the provincial office stated, "We will continue to create future educational spaces to meet the demands of new educational environments and will make even greater efforts to operate outstanding educational facilities in partnership with the local community."
