Ministry of Science and ICT Accelerates Export Support for Small and Medium Broadcasting and Media Enterprises

Joint Commercialization with Global Demand Enterprises
Announcing the 'Next-Generation Broadcasting Media Service Platform'

The Ministry of Science and ICT will support small and medium-sized broadcasting and media enterprises in expanding overseas by promoting technology commercialization tailored to global demand. Starting from January 22 until February 12, the ministry will announce the 'Next-Generation Broadcasting Media Service Platform Leadership' project, aiming to help domestic companies with high growth potential enter the global market.

The core of this project is for domestic small and medium-sized broadcasting and media companies to form consortia with global enterprises and jointly carry out the entire process-from technology planning to prototype production, commercialization, and securing overseas sales channels. The focus is on 'market-driven commercialization' that leads not only to technology development but also to tangible export results.

Since last year, the Ministry of Science and ICT has been implementing this project for small and medium-sized enterprises facing difficulties in securing overseas supply chains. As a result, companies such as Digicap, Maru ENG, and Deeplogic Chain have signed exclusive supply contracts worth approximately 24 billion KRW with the U.S. network operator C5G (Castanet 5G) through 2028.

This year, the project targets consortia consisting of at least two small or medium-sized broadcasting and media companies that integrate AI and cloud technologies, offering up to 500 million KRW in support. Establishing a joint cooperation system with global enterprises is a key requirement.

The selection process involves a preliminary review by the Korea Radio Promotion Association, the project announcement agency, followed by evaluation from external experts, after which a single consortium is finally selected. The chosen companies will receive support throughout all stages of global expansion, from business planning and prototype validation to commercialization, demonstration, and scaling up.

Additionally, selected companies will have the opportunity to participate in NAB Show 2026, the world's largest broadcasting equipment exhibition scheduled for April, where they can directly showcase their technologies and services to overseas enterprises.

Lee Hyunho, Director General of Radio Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "We hope that technology commercialization in partnership with global demand companies will lead to real achievements in overseas expansion," adding, "We will continue to support the export capabilities of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises."
