PLUS Aerospace & UAM Surpasses 160 Billion Won in Net Assets... Outstanding Year-to-Date Returns

Hanwha Asset Management announced on January 21 that the total net asset value of the 'PLUS Aerospace & UAM' Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) has surpassed 160 billion won.

According to the Korea Exchange, as of January 19, the PLUS Aerospace & UAM ETF recorded a net asset value of 164.9 billion won. This is the result of active buying by individual investors. Since the beginning of this year alone, individuals have made a net purchase of 32.7 billion won.

The returns are also notable. Based on the net asset value (NAV) as of January 19, the PLUS Aerospace & UAM ETF posted returns of 52.89% over the past three months, 51.75% over six months, and 161.17% over one year. Year-to-date, the return stands at 39.31%, the highest among domestically listed ETFs excluding leveraged products.

As SpaceX, the world's largest aerospace company, is pushing for an initial public offering (IPO), the stock prices of companies across the space industry value chain are being reassessed.

The PLUS Aerospace & UAM ETF includes a balanced mix of mid- and small-cap stocks-such as Satrec Initiative (13.4%), Intellian Technologies (8.9%), and HVM (7.75%)-as well as large-cap stocks like Korea Aerospace Industries (10.1%), Hanwha Systems (9.8%), and Hanwha Aerospace (8.4%), all of which either supply directly to SpaceX or are expected to benefit from technological spillover effects.

Geum Jeongseop, Head of the ETF Business Division at Hanwha Asset Management, stated, "The momentum in the space industry triggered by SpaceX's IPO plans is expected to continue for the time being," adding, "This year, events such as the launch of NASA's Artemis II and the fifth launch of Nuri are scheduled." He continued, "As mid- and small-cap stocks that have turned a profit on a quarterly basis are expected to post annual profits, this year will be marked not only by heightened expectations but also by solid performance."
