260 Billion Won to Be Issued in the First Quarter
Fostering a Climate of Local Consumption
Discounts on Mobile and Card-Type Gift Certificates
Naju City in South Jeolla Province is significantly increasing the issuance of Naju Sarang Gift Certificates for the Lunar New Year holiday and adding special discount benefits, aiming to boost local consumption and stabilize the management of small businesses at the same time.
On January 21, Naju City announced that it would expand the issuance of Naju Sarang Gift Certificates ahead of the Lunar New Year to stimulate local consumption and support the business stability of small business owners.
According to the city, starting with 6.5 billion won issued in January, it plans to issue 11 billion won in February, which includes the Lunar New Year holiday, and 8.5 billion won in March, focusing on a total issuance of 26 billion won for the first quarter.
In particular, to encourage consumption during the Lunar New Year in February, a special 15% discount will be offered on mobile and card-type Naju Sarang Gift Certificates.
This discount is provided through an immediate 11% upfront discount at the time of purchase, and an additional 4% cashback credited when the certificates are used for payment.
Furthermore, in March, the city plans to maintain the 11% discount rate on mobile and card-type gift certificates to continue stimulating consumption even after the holiday period.
However, due to the ongoing early sell-out of mobile and card-type Naju Sarang Gift Certificates since the fourth quarter of last year, buyers should be cautious about the timing of their purchases. The issuance amount for mobile and card-type certificates in February is set at 10 billion won, and they will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Once sold out, the upfront discount sales will end.
The cashback benefit will be credited at 4% of the payment amount, regardless of whether the certificates are newly purchased or already held, with a maximum cashback limit of 20,000 won per person.
Mobile and card-type Naju Sarang Gift Certificates can be applied for and issued through the 'Chak (Local Gift Certificate Chak)' app or local financial institutions. Cashback details can be checked in the 'Balance-Cashback' menu within the Chak app, and users must activate the cashback feature in the app to use the credited cashback.
Meanwhile, Naju City is expanding the use of Onnuri Gift Certificates by relaxing the designation criteria for alley-type shopping districts and has secured a budget of 120 million won to support 2-3% of the interest on small business loan funds, continuing its policies to protect local commercial districts and stabilize small business management.
Mayor Yoon Byungtae of Naju stated, "The use of Naju Sarang Gift Certificates continues to increase, and citizens' preference for local commercial consumption is becoming more evident," adding, "It is providing practical help for the stable management of small businesses."
He continued, "As this year is designated the 'Year of Visiting Naju,' we will continue to promote the use of Naju Sarang Gift Certificates through various events and actively pursue issuance and support policies so that local funds can circulate within the region, especially during the Lunar New Year holiday."
