Improved Message Readability
Brand Profiles Now Include Logos
SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus, the three major mobile carriers, announced on January 21 that they have officially launched iPhone RCS (Rich Communication Services) business messaging as a formal service.
RCS is a next-generation messaging standard adopted by the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association). Compared to traditional SMS and MMS, it allows users to send longer messages and transmit high-quality files. In Korea, RCS was previously available only on Android operating systems, but since last year, it has also become available on Apple’s iOS.
SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus, the three major mobile carriers, announced on the 21st that they have officially launched iPhone RCS (Rich Communication Services) business messaging as a formal service. Provided by the three mobile carriers.
Following the iOS 26 update in September of last year, the three mobile carriers launched the official RCS personal messaging service along with an open beta for business messaging. Since then, they have optimized the RCS business messaging service and have now transitioned it to an official service. The service is available to customers using iPhone 11 series or later models running iOS 26 or higher.
With the launch of this official version, the RCS business messaging experience on iPhone has been improved. Previously, long-form messages sent by businesses were truncated, making them harder to read. Now, for text-only messages without buttons, the full content is delivered without omission.
Additionally, iPhone users can now view a “brand profile” when receiving messages from businesses. If a company registers its brand with the RCS Biz Center, its brand logo is automatically displayed when sending messages, enhancing the recipient’s trust. Companies can also access customer response statistics, such as whether a message was clicked, allowing them to measure marketing effectiveness.
RCS business messaging can be sent not only to customers of the three major mobile carriers but also to users of budget phone services, and customers can receive messages even while roaming overseas. Currently, there are approximately 42 million RCS users in Korea.
The three mobile carriers stated, “By officially launching iPhone RCS business messaging, we are providing a trustworthy messaging environment for both customers and businesses,” adding, “We will continue to enhance the customer experience with innovative communication technologies and services.”
