14 Centers Participate
Over 5,000 Beneficiaries in 18 Years
Gangdong District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soohee) is offering free health check-ups for children, adolescents, and staff members at local community child centers during the winter vacation period.
On January 21, the district announced that, in collaboration with the Seoul Gangnam Branch of the Korea Association of Health Promotion, it will systematically assess the health status of growing children and adolescents and provide ongoing health management support.
The check-ups will be conducted during the February winter vacation at the Seoul Gangnam Branch of the Korea Association of Health Promotion, located in Songpa District. The free examination includes basic physical measurements, urine and blood tests, chest X-rays, and other items to comprehensively assess health status.
This year, participation from local community child centers has expanded. A total of 14 centers applied, marking an increase of about 56% compared to 9 centers last year. The district plans to strengthen outreach and publicity to encourage even more centers to participate in the future.
Since 2007, Gangdong District has consistently provided health check-ups for children and adolescents in cooperation with the Seoul Gangnam Branch of the Korea Association of Health Promotion, with more than 5,200 beneficiaries as of last year. Individual health reports are provided to help with early detection of health issues, and the status of those with findings is used as foundational data for developing child and adolescent health promotion policies.
Lee Soohee, Mayor of Gangdong District, stated, "With the significant increase in participating institutions this year, we will provide even more thorough check-up services. I would like to thank the Korea Association of Health Promotion for their steadfast support over the past 18 years, and we will continue to create an environment where all children and adolescents can grow up healthy."
