Gyeonggi Province Launches 'Housing Project' for Basic Pension Households, Including Threshold Removal

Gyeonggi Province will implement the 'Senior Safety Housing' project this year.

The Senior Safety Housing initiative is a program that supports customized home renovations for related facilities, taking into account the physical abilities and lifestyles of elderly residents so they can live safely. Since 2023, a total of 752 households have received renovation support. This year, 371 households are expected to benefit from the program.

The main areas of support include: ▲removal of thresholds ▲replacement of floors with anti-slip materials ▲removal of bathtubs ▲installation of safety handles ▲replacement of lighting with bright LED fixtures ▲installation of ramps, and more.

Kim Tae-su, Director of Housing Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We plan to implement even more detailed and customized renovations to ensure the safety of our seniors," adding, "We will do our best to create a living environment where seniors can spend their later years with peace of mind in the homes they have always lived in."
