Sharing Directions for Advancing the Gangwon-Style Lifelong Education Model Based on Local-Industry-Academia Collaboration
Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) successfully held the 'RISE Lifelong Education Consortium Integrated Workshop' from January 15 to 16, 2026, in Yangyang, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, as part of the Regional Innovation-led University Support System (RISE) project.

This workshop was organized to share the achievements accumulated during the implementation of the 'Local-Industry-Academia Lifelong Education Cluster Formation' sub-project under the Hallym RISE Lifelong Education initiative, and to disseminate collaborative experiences and operational know-how among consortium members.
The event was attended by a wide range of lifelong education stakeholders, including officials from cities and counties, universities, and industries; professors and researchers participating in industry-academia joint lifelong education research projects; those involved in AI and digital media education, Great Books (GB) education, Gangwon humanities tours, and active aging programs.
During the event, participants shared the overall progress and achievements of the Hallym RISE Lifelong Education project, and a keynote lecture was delivered under the theme 'The Future of Gangwon Opened by Lifelong Education.' This was followed by a workshop aimed at establishing directions for the advancement of the second year of the local-industry-academia collaboration, during which various opinions were exchanged on lifelong education models applicable to the region and industrial sites.
In addition, a presentation session on industry-academia joint lifelong education research projects was held to share R&D achievements and research results that reflect local needs and industrial sites. Participants also discussed the qualitative advancement of lifelong education programs and the sustainability of cooperative structures going forward.
Kim Iktae, Director of the Hallym University Community Education Center, stated, "This integrated consortium workshop was a meaningful occasion to review the achievements of lifelong education jointly developed by universities, local governments, and industries, and to share future directions for development. Moving forward, we will continue to advance the Gangwon-style lifelong education model that grows together with the region, based on the Hallym RISE Lifelong Education project."
The Hallym University Community Education Center plans to further strengthen the consortium-based network and cooperation system, and to promote the dissemination of RISE project achievements through adult learner-centered lifelong education programs that reflect local needs and industrial sites.
