Draw Over 40,000 Visitors

Sinan "Island Winter Flower Festival" Concludes Successfully Baby camellias in full bloom in the snowy landscape of the bonsai garden on 1004 Island. Provided by Sinan County.

Sinan County, South Jeolla Province, announced that the "Island Winter Flower Festival," held at the Bonsai Garden on 1004 Island in Aphae-eup from December 19, 2025, to January 18, 2026, concluded with more than 40,000 visitors.

According to the county, during the festival, approximately 40 million red baby camellia blossoms bloomed along a 3-kilometer forest trail, creating a spectacular winter scene with about 20,000 baby camellia trees throughout the Bonsai Garden area.

Visitors flocked from all over the country, including Seoul and the greater metropolitan area, and the red flower path set against the winter sea was praised as a unique attraction.

During the event, major photo spots such as the observatory and the "Angel Wings" photo zone drew continuous crowds, while family visitors actively participated in hands-on programs such as writing wish notes, making baby camellia postcards, and drawing camellia pictures.

At the Sunset Art Museum within the Bonsai Garden, a camellia-themed exhibition featuring professional artists added a cultural experience to the festival.

A county official stated, "Even during the off-season in winter, many visitors came and contributed to revitalizing local tourism. Although the festival has ended, we expect the baby camellias to remain in bloom for some time."

Meanwhile, the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden is a popular tourist destination with views of the Dadohae Sea, featuring an art museum, museum, bonsai garden, arboretum, and forest bathing area. Through exhibitions of high-value bonsai and more, it has established itself as a leading tourist attraction in Sinan, drawing over 200,000 visitors annually.
