MBC Every1's 'Hotel Dokkaebi' Premieres on the 20th
Actress Go Doo-shim has taken on the challenge of running a hotel in Jeju Island, welcoming foreign guests.
Go Doo-shim, who is originally from Jeju, took on overall responsibilities for the MBC Every1 variety show 'Hotel Dokkaebi.' At the production presentation held on January 20, she said, "The only thing I didn't share was sleeping together; I gave everything else."
'Hotel Dokkaebi' is a pop-up reality program that operates for just one week before disappearing. The cast members became hoteliers at a traditional Korean-style hotel in Seogwipo, Jeju, providing foreign guests with accommodation, sightseeing, and experiences of traditional culture.
Go Doo-shim spoke about the challenges of preparing large quantities of food. She said, "From the stove to ingredient preparation, I had to get ready for more than ten servings," and added, "It was not easy to stay in the kitchen for long hours and adjust the seasoning of the dishes."
The cast members supported the hotel operations through their assigned roles. Kwon Yul handled practical operations, while Son Naeun, utilizing her foreign language skills, was in charge of front desk service and assisting in the kitchen. Kim Dongjun, as the chef, presented menus using local Jeju ingredients, and Jeon Seonggon was responsible for airport pickups and local tours. The youngest, Lee Daehwi, created a lively atmosphere by managing hall service and outdoor activities.
The cast also built teamwork during filming. Go Doo-shim said, "Our teamwork was so good that guests even mistook us for a family business." Kim Dongjun added, "We relied on Master Go Doo-shim and filled in each other's gaps."
Kim Dongjun shared his thoughts, saying, "This is a program where you can feel a sense of warmth for a week," and added, "We thought we would be the ones giving warmth, but in the end, we were the ones who received it."
