The ceremony was attended by seven related officials, including Mayor Bang Sehwan, Lee Jaejung, President of the Gyeonggi Province branch of the Korean Red Cross, Song Myungsoo, President of the Gwangju District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Corps, and Choi Mingyu, Director of the Central Volunteer Center of the Korean Red Cross. During the event, participants exchanged Red Cross Giving Club badges as well as the special membership fee, sharing the spirit of giving.

Since 2007, Gwangju City has participated in the annual payment of the Red Cross special membership fee, and with this contribution, the cumulative donation has reached a total of 13.2 million won. Additionally, in 2025, Gwangju City plans to raise a total of 141.02 million won in Red Cross membership fees, continuing to foster a culture of sharing within the local community.

Mayor Bang stated, "I would like to thank the Red Cross volunteers and citizens who have participated in the fundraising and devoted themselves to helping their neighbors, even in difficult economic conditions. I hope that the special membership fee delivered will be used meaningfully for disaster relief and support for vulnerable groups, and the city will continue its efforts to spread a culture of sharing."

Meanwhile, Red Cross membership fees are collected year-round and are used for various humanitarian projects, including disaster relief activities and support for vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots. In addition to payment through financial institutions using Giro slips, participation is also possible via online methods such as ARS and smartphone simple payment. The paid membership fee is recognized as a statutory donation, making it eligible for tax deductions during year-end tax settlements.
