KORAIL Receives Presidential Commendation for Support During APEC Summit

Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 19th that it had received a commendation in recognition of its contributions to expanding rail transport support and enhancing safety management during last year's APEC Summit.

During the event, KORAIL operated 360 KTX trains at Gyeongju Station to facilitate visitor transportation and maintained a 24-hour emergency response system, focusing its efforts on safety management.

KORAIL was also responsible for transporting high-level foreign guests, including the President of Chile, the Prime Minister of Singapore, ministers from Mexico and Australia, as well as members of the press. During the event period, the number of train passengers using Gyeongju Station reached 256,000, an increase of 30,000 (14%) compared to the same period the previous year.

KORAIL was recognized for its collaboration with related organizations involved in the APEC Summit, continuously monitoring on-site conditions and preparing to respond swiftly to any unusual situations, thereby ensuring stable railway operations without a single accident.

Jung Jeongrae, Acting President of KORAIL, stated, "KORAIL will continue to fulfill its responsibilities to ensure that railways remain a safe and reliable means of transportation during major national events and large-scale transport situations."
