Park Jeongju, Chungnam Deputy Governor for Administration, Retires After 30 Years of Public Service: "Now Embarking on a New Journey as a Resident" Park Jeongju, Deputy Governor for Administration of Chungnam Province, retired on the 20th after 30 years of public service.

Park Jeongju, Deputy Governor for Administration of Chungnam Province, who has coordinated key issues for the development of Chungnam by working between the provincial government and central ministries, concluded his public service career with a retirement ceremony on the 20th, returning to life as an ordinary resident of Chungnam.

On this day, Chungnam Province held the retirement ceremony for Park Jeongju, the 38th Deputy Governor for Administration, at the provincial government’s cultural and arts hall.

The event was attended by over 700 people, including Governor Kim Taeheum, heads of departments and divisions, and staff, all honoring Deputy Governor Park’s dedication over his 30-year public service career.

Born in Hongseong, Park graduated from Hongseong High School and Seoul National University. He entered public service in 1996 after passing the second local civil service exam.

He worked in Hongseong County for two years starting in 1997, joined the Chungnam provincial government in 1999, and gained experience in both local and central administration through positions at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Office for Government Policy Coordination.

Within the province, he held key positions such as Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Director of Oceans and Fisheries, and Director of Planning and Coordination, where he designed policies for industrial, economic, and balanced regional development. Drawing on this experience, he was appointed as the 38th Deputy Governor for Administration in January last year.

During his tenure, Park was recognized for ensuring the stable operation of provincial affairs and focusing administrative capabilities on identifying future growth engines for Chungnam.

In particular, he was named “Best Senior Official” three times in a selection organized by the provincial public officials’ labor union and voted on directly by all public servants, demonstrating strong internal trust and organizational leadership.

The retirement ceremony included the presentation of a plaque of merit and a plaque of appreciation by Governor Kim Taeheum, a plaque of appreciation from Choi Jeonghee, Chairperson of the Chungnam Provincial Government Employees’ Union, farewell remarks, and a retirement speech.

Park stated, “The past 30 years spent with the Chungnam Provincial Government family were devoted to fulfilling my duties as a public servant without distraction. Now, I am leaving that time behind and moving on to a new path.”

He continued, “My career as a public servant has always been a process of facing challenges head-on. I will continue to embrace new challenges in the future.”

He added, “I will live together with my neighbors in Chungnam and Hongseong, where I was born and raised. Rather than seeking grand titles, I will choose a path of honest hard work, living alongside residents rather than pursuing lofty rhetoric.”

Governor Kim Taeheum said, “Behind the unprecedented achievements of the 8th popularly elected administration’s ‘Strong Chungnam’ initiative, Deputy Governor Park was always there. The experience and insight he has accumulated will continue to be a great asset to the local community.”
