Customized Programs for Long-term Unemployed Youth

Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province is recruiting 156 participants for the "Youth Challenge Support Project," which aims to support young people struggling with employment and entering society.

This project provides customized programs for young people who have not participated in employment, education, or vocational training for an extended period, with the goal of boosting their motivation to seek jobs and helping them enter society. Participants receive step-by-step support, including close counseling, case management, confidence restoration, career exploration, and strengthening of job competencies.


Eligible applicants include young people who have not been employed, educated, or participated in vocational training for at least the past six months, youth preparing for independence, those who have entered or left youth shelters, and young North Korean defectors. Applicants can choose from short-term (5 weeks), mid-term (15 weeks), or long-term (25 weeks) programs. Depending on the course completed, participants will receive a stipend and incentives ranging from a minimum of 500,000 won to a maximum of 3.5 million won.

Jung Hogi, Director of Economic Affairs for Siheung City, stated, "I hope that young people struggling with job searches can regain their confidence and re-enter society through this project," adding, "We will continue to actively develop support policies to help young people re-enter the labor market in a stable manner."
