Daegu City will be accepting applications for new residents for the first semester of the 2026 academic year at the Daegu Happiness Dormitory, located in Suchang-dong, Jung-gu, at the Korea Private School Promotion Foundation, from January 21 to February 3.
The Daegu Happiness Dormitory is a public dormitory established to alleviate the housing burden for local university students and young people, and to provide a stable academic environment. Since its opening in March 2023, it has received high satisfaction from residents thanks to reasonable dormitory fees and excellent facilities.
The dormitory has a total of 503 rooms, accommodating up to 1,000 people. For this semester, approximately 400 new residents will be recruited, excluding those wishing to extend their stay. Residency is available in six-month terms, and residents may stay for up to eight years if desired.
Any undergraduate or graduate student under the age of 39 enrolled at a university in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region is eligible to apply. If there are vacancies after the first round of selection, additional young adults under the age of 39 will also be recruited.
The dormitory fee is approximately 273,000 won per month, and meals at the dormitory cafeteria are available for about 5,100 won per meal.
In addition, the dormitory is equipped with various amenities such as a fitness room, laundry room, and reading room, providing both convenience and a conducive learning environment. In particular, a 24-hour security system is maintained using an unmanned parcel delivery system and biometric access control, ensuring a safe living environment for residents.
Furthermore, on the first floor of the public facility connected to the dormitory, the 'Hope Closet' offers free interview suit rentals for job seekers, and the 'Youth Center' serves as a communication space for young people. The 'Regional University Cooperation Center' on the second floor provides community spaces of various sizes, including lecture rooms and a multi-studio, and supports job and entrepreneurship information, exchange programs, and educational activities.
Applications for residency can be submitted online via the Daegu Happiness Dormitory website from January 21 to February 3. For detailed information regarding recruitment, please refer to the announcement on the dormitory website or contact the Daegu Happiness Dormitory administration office.
Lee Euna, Director of University Policy at Daegu City, stated, "The Daegu Happiness Dormitory is a comprehensive youth housing platform that not only ensures housing stability for local university students but also supports job and entrepreneurship activities.
