"The 'Moving Science Museum' Returns... National Busan Science Museum Unveils Renovated Automobile Zone"

Electric Vehicle Maintenance, Autonomous Robot Demonstrations
Experience the Future of Mobility at a Glance

The National Busan Science Museum has newly renovated and unveiled its permanent Automobile Zone exhibition.

The National Busan Science Museum, led by Director Song Samjong, announced that it has completed the renovation of Permanent Exhibition Hall 1’s “Automobile Zone” and will officially open it to the public on January 20.

This renovation focuses on reinterpreting automobiles not merely as means of transportation, but as “moving science museums” that integrate mechanical and physical principles, energy engineering, and advanced information technology (IT). The exhibition broadly covers topics from the basic principles of automobiles to the latest mobility technologies, with a significant emphasis on interactive exhibits.

The exhibition is divided into three areas that showcase the present and future of mobility: fundamental automobile technologies and principles, sustainability and energy technologies, and future technologies and transportation innovation.

The “Fundamental Automobile Technologies and Principles” area introduces the mechanical and physical laws of automobiles, such as gears, power transmission, and suspension systems, which remain unchanged over time. Visitors can directly operate various real-life models to observe and understand how these mechanisms work.

The “Sustainability and Energy Technologies” area highlights the shift in the energy paradigm from fossil fuel-based internal combustion engines to electric vehicles. By combining real models of internal combustion and electric vehicles with video displays, the exhibit visually demonstrates the energy flow of each power source. In the Electric Vehicle Pit Zone, visitors can experience actual maintenance processes, such as tire and battery replacement, to explore the structure of automobiles.

The “Future Technologies and Transportation Innovation” area presents a future mobility city, where automobiles evolve beyond transportation to become living spaces and service platforms. Through demonstrations of patrol and delivery robots that incorporate the core principles of autonomous driving technology, as well as interactive exhibits, visitors can experience the changes that future mobility will bring.

The Automobile Zone at Permanent Exhibition Hall 1 will be open to visitors starting January 20.

Song Samjong, Director of the National Busan Science Museum, stated, “This renovation of the Automobile Zone was designed to allow visitors to directly engage with and experience the scientific principles embedded in automobiles, which are closely connected to our daily lives. I hope this will inspire young people to take an interest in advanced mobility technologies and help them develop the skills to lead future society.”
