Wonju City Grants Honorary Road Name 'Samyang Buldak-ro'

Wonju City in Gangwon Province has granted the honorary road name 'Samyang Buldak-ro' to Usan-ro in Usan-dong, where the Samyang Foods Wonju Factory is located.

Samyang Buldak-ro is the first honorary road name designated by Wonju City. It was given to recognize Samyang Foods, a leading local company, for its contributions to revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs. The designated section spans from 1 Usan-ro to 264 Usan-ro, totaling 1,963 meters, in commemoration of the year 1963, when 'Samyang Ramen,' Korea's first instant noodle, was created.

Honorary road names are not included in official addresses; instead, they are additionally granted to existing road names to honor individuals or historical events, attract businesses, or promote international exchange. Therefore, for official addresses, the original road name 'Usan-ro' should continue to be used.

An official from Wonju City stated, "We hope that granting this honorary road name will serve as a positive opportunity for mutual growth between Wonju City and Samyang Foods."
