A man who sexually harassed multiple women while visiting cafes in the Suwon area of Gyeonggi Province has been arrested and detained.

According to the Suwon Yeongtong Police Station on January 20, the Suwon District Court held a pretrial detention hearing for Mr. A, who is accused of indecent assault, and issued an arrest warrant the previous day. The court cited concerns that he might attempt to flee.

Mr. A is accused of grabbing the hands or touching the shoulders of eight women at cafes and other locations inside a commercial building in Gwanggyo New Town, Suwon, around 6 p.m. on January 16. It was reported that Mr. A repeatedly committed these acts by approaching women sitting on chairs in the cafe and suddenly hugging them from behind.

Just one day earlier, on January 15, he was apprehended by police for molesting four women at the same location. Despite being booked without detention, he committed the same crime again while under investigation.

The police arrested Mr. A at the scene and, considering the risk of reoffending, applied for an arrest warrant after questioning him.

During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly stated that he acted on impulse. So far, no history of psychiatric treatment or other medical conditions has been identified, and he tested negative in a preliminary drug screening.

The police plan to continue further investigations with Mr. A in custody.
