Motif Technologies Announces Intention to Join 'Independent AI Project' Second-Chance Competition

Motif Technologies, a subsidiary of the AI infrastructure solutions company Moreh, is currently in discussions with additional partners beyond the consortium it formed in July last year for a renewed attempt.

The company stated, "We have experience developing both high-performance large language models (LLMs) and large multimodal models (LMMs) as foundation models," adding, "We will strive to demonstrate Korea's technological independence."

Motif Technologies asserted that its "Motif 12.7B," unveiled in November last year, is a culmination of domestic technology, as the company independently handled every step of the process from model development to data training.

The company explained, "We are highly regarded for our independence, not only because we trained the model from scratch, but also because we newly designed the attention function-which is the core of intelligence-as well as the model's architecture itself."

Meanwhile, Naver Cloud and the NC AI Consortium have announced that they will not participate in the re-bidding for the independent AI foundation model project. In addition, Kakao, one of the consortia eliminated during the previous selection of five elite teams, has also declared that it will not participate.
