Encouraging Wildfire Monitoring Personnel and Listening to Their Concerns
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province has launched an inspection of its wildfire preparedness posture to strengthen prevention and initial response capabilities as the risk of winter wildfires increases.
This inspection was carried out due to the heightened risk of wildfires caused by the recent dry weather.
In particular, Deputy Governor Seong Heungtaek visited the wildfire monitoring post in Dori, Saengbiryang-myeon, to encourage the wildfire monitoring personnel and listen to their concerns.

He also called for a review of the rapid reporting system using GPS for early wildfire detection and emphasized the importance of wildfire monitoring to minimize occurrences.
Currently, Sancheong County operates a wildfire monitoring system by deploying specialized wildfire prevention and suppression teams, as well as wildfire monitoring personnel, in each town and township.
Through these measures, the county aims to prevent wildfires caused by various types of burning, such as field and farmland residue, agricultural by-products, accidental fires by visitors, and improper disposal of ashes from wood boilers and fireplaces.
The county is intensively cracking down on illegal burning during vulnerable times when burning is frequent, especially before and after sunset, and operates a rapid response team to actively address nighttime wildfires.
Deputy Governor Seong Heungtaek stated, "The best way to control wildfires is prevention, public awareness, and swift initial suppression," adding, "We will focus on managing wildfire risk factors by promoting awareness, guiding residents, cracking down on burning activities, strengthening patrols during vulnerable hours, conducting door-to-door wildfire prevention campaigns, and inspecting wood boilers."
