This complex cultural facility is being built with the aim of completion by the end of next year to expand the insufficient cultural and leisure infrastructure within the Yeosu district of Jungwon-gu.
The city plans to invest a total project cost of 32.1 billion won (including 4.9 billion won for land acquisition) to construct the facility on a 1,660-square-meter site, with three underground floors and four above-ground floors, for a total floor area of 7,420 square meters.
The first to fourth floors above ground will house a small library, fitness classrooms, a music room, a small theater, a multipurpose hall, a drone experience room, and cultural classrooms.
The first to third basement floors will be equipped with a parking lot that can accommodate 63 vehicles.
The facility is scheduled to open in the first half of 2028.
After the opening, Seongnam City plans to operate a variety of cultural, arts, and lifestyle sports programs at the facility.
In relation to this, the city held a residents' briefing session on January 19, the day before the groundbreaking, at the Moran Hall on the second floor of City Hall, attended by over 150 people.
During the briefing, the city shared the construction schedule and major space layout plans with the residents and held a Q&A session.
Residents who attended the session expressed their anticipation for the new complex cultural facility, saying, "This is a much-needed facility for the area," and "We look forward to its diverse uses."
Seong Sangjin, Mayor of Seongnam City, said, "The Yeosu-dong complex cultural facility will be created as a community-oriented space that comprehensively reflects the cultural and leisure needs of local residents," adding, "We expect it to become a key hub for the local community."
