Cheongdo County Opens "2026 International United Nations Forum for Preparing the World Mental Olympics"

Cheongdo County announced that it will open the "2026 International United Nations Forum for Preparing the World Mental Olympics" at Cheongdo Sinhwarang Pungnyu Village at 2 p.m. on January 21.


This forum has been organized to explore the direction of values, ethics, and spiritual culture that humanity faces in the wake of rapid artificial intelligence (AI) development, and to discuss a new spiritual paradigm to lead future society. More than 200 domestic and international experts are expected to attend.

The main theme of the forum is "Humanity After AI: Finding the Way Through a Spiritual Revolution," which highlights the role and restoration of the human spirit in a technology-centered society, as well as the importance of global solidarity.


The opening ceremony will proceed in the following order: national ceremony, introduction of guests, opening remarks, welcoming address, congratulatory remarks, and keynote speeches.


The opening remarks will be delivered by Cho Deokho, President of the Global Spiritual Culture Forum. The welcoming address will be given by Kim Hasu, Governor of Cheongdo County. Keynote speeches will be delivered by former Deputy Prime Minister of Education Yoon Deokhong and Seoul National University Professor Emeritus Lee Dalgon, who will present the significance and vision of the forum. National Assembly members Lee Manhee, Lim Ohkyung, and Lim Mi-ae will also deliver congratulatory messages both online and offline.


In addition, the awards ceremony for the International Webtoon Contest, which connects future generations and cultural content, will be held. There will also be an opportunity to appreciate the winning works and share the potential for convergence between spiritual culture and creative content.


Kim Hasu, Governor of Cheongdo County, stated, "This International United Nations Forum is the first step toward the World Mental Olympics and a meaningful occasion to seek the spiritual direction humanity should pursue in the AI era together with the international community," adding, "I hope this will serve as an opportunity for Cheongdo to emerge as a center for global discourse on spiritual culture."


Meanwhile, this forum is expected to serve as a starting point for international cooperation and consensus building for the future hosting of the World Mental Olympics, and will be expanded through ongoing global discussions.
