10 to 15 Businesses to Be Selected
Revitalizing the Local Economy and Addressing Urban Hollowing-Out
Haenam County in South Jeolla Province is launching a "Vacant Storefront Startup Support Project" to utilize an increasing number of empty stores caused by the economic downturn and to help small business owners achieve stable management.
On January 19, the county announced that it will select 10 to 15 small business owners planning to start businesses in vacant storefronts located in Haenam-eup and provide rent support of up to 500,000 won per month.
The project will run until December of this year, and applications will be accepted from February 2 to 27. Applicants can visit the Small Business Team of the Rural Economy Division at Haenam County Office or submit the application form, business plan, and family relation certificate via email.
The county will conduct a document review focusing on the business plan, evaluating factors such as commitment, appropriateness of the business plan, and additional points, and will make the final selection in March.
Selected applicants must complete business registration and the lease contract within three months from the date of selection. Details such as eligibility requirements can be found in the official announcement.
A county official stated, "This is the first time we are providing rent support for new startups in order to address the vacancy problem in Haenam-eup's commercial districts, alleviate urban hollowing-out, and revitalize the local economy. We hope to receive many applications from aspiring entrepreneurs planning to start businesses in Haenam-eup."
