Significant Improvement in Transportation Accessibility Expected
POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks completed the Kumho-Taein Pedestrian Bridge, a connecting bridge directly linking Taeindong and Kumhodong, on January 17. As a result, local residents have responded positively, noting that accessibility between the two areas has greatly improved.
The newly completed Kumho-Taein Pedestrian Bridge connects Kumhodong and Taeindong. It is a steel pipe girder bridge measuring 64 meters in length, 4.45 meters in height, and 5 meters in width. The bridge was designed to allow local residents to move smoothly on foot or by bicycle.

Although Kumhodong and Taeindong are very close to each other, separated only by a river, residents had long been inconvenienced by the lack of connecting roads, forcing them to take long detours to travel between the two areas.
To address these inconveniences, Gwangyang Steelworks submitted a project design for the Kumho-Taein Pedestrian Bridge to Gwangyang City in August 2024 and held a groundbreaking ceremony in March last year.
Notably, of the total project cost of approximately 3.39 billion won, POSCO covered 2.61 billion won, demonstrating its commitment to meeting community needs and leading efforts for mutual growth.
In fact, the completion of the Kumho-Taein Pedestrian Bridge has been met with positive feedback from citizens.
A resident of Kumhodong said, "Many neighbors travel to and from Taeindong, and everyone had been waiting for the completion of the pedestrian bridge. I have high expectations now that our long-awaited local project has finally been realized."
Another resident of Taeindong commented, "With the addition of the Kumho-Taein Pedestrian Bridge, the time it takes to walk to Taeindong, which used to be over an hour, will be reduced by more than half. I look forward to regularly using the jogging course that connects the two areas via this bridge."
A representative from Gwangyang Steelworks stated, "We expect that the Kumho-Taein Pedestrian Bridge will further promote exchanges between Kumhodong and Taeindong. We will continue to improve transportation infrastructure for local residents and carry out various activities to enhance citizens’ quality of life."
