Yeosu City to Provide 2 Million Won Wedding Congratulatory Fund for Young Couples

For Young Couples Under 49 Who Have Lived in South Jeolla for Over Six Months

Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province announced that it will provide a wedding congratulatory fund of 2 million won to young couples to alleviate the initial economic burden of marriage and support their stable settlement within the region.

The eligible recipients are couples in which both spouses are under the age of 49 as of the date of marriage registration. Both individuals must have resided in South Jeolla Province for at least six months, and at least one spouse must reside in Yeosu City from the application date until the payment date.

Applications can be submitted starting six months after the marriage registration, and must be made within one year and six months from the date of marriage registration. Couples who meet the eligibility requirements can apply in person at the local township, town, or neighborhood office according to their registered address, or online through Jeonnam iTalk.

The city will review the eligibility criteria every month and provide a lump sum payment of 2 million won around the middle of the following month based on the application date.

Notably, starting this year, the application requirements for multicultural families have been eased. If one spouse is a foreign national, the reference date has been changed from the "marriage registration date" to the "issuance date of the marriage visa (F-6)," allowing applications within one year and six months from the date the marriage visa is issued.

A Yeosu City official stated, "This program is intended to encourage young people to get married and to reduce the financial burden on newlywed young couples. We hope that eligible citizens will actively take advantage of this support."

Meanwhile, last year, Yeosu City provided the wedding congratulatory fund to 750 young couples.
