Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital has partnered with the digital healthcare company Dworks to advance artificial intelligence (AI)-based medical technology and establish a system for utilizing medical big data.
The hospital announced on the 19th that it recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation with Dworks at the video conference room on the third floor of the hospital’s Center for Future Medical Innovation.
The signing ceremony was attended by Hyungseok Kim, Director of the Biomedical Research Institute at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital; Sanghee Cho, Director of the Clinical Trial Center; Jaesook Ahn, Head of the Biomedical Research Department; and Junhyung Ahn, CEO of Dworks.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will leverage their respective capabilities and resources to: provide technical consulting and cooperation related to the use of medical data and clinical trials; discover new business models in the digital healthcare sector; build datasets by refining and de-identifying high-quality medical data; and pursue other collaborative initiatives for mutual development.
In particular, the agreement is significant because it aims to systematically utilize medical data accumulated in real clinical settings to enhance the reliability and effectiveness of AI diagnostic technology and strengthen the connection between research and industry.
Junhyung Ahn, CEO of Dworks, stated, "This agreement marks the starting point for elevating AI diagnostic technology based on the vast amount of data generated in medical settings. Through our collaboration with Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, we will continue to develop digital healthcare solutions that can be applied in clinical practice."
Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital plans to use this agreement to strengthen its research competitiveness in AI-based precision medicine and the digital healthcare field, and to continuously promote future medical innovation through the utilization of medical data.
Hyungseok Kim, Director of the Biomedical Research Institute, said, "By combining the hospital’s clinical experience and research infrastructure with Dworks’ technological capabilities, we can create a new model for utilizing medical big data.
