Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation Begins Accepting Resident Support Applications
Relocation Complex Development and Temporary Housing Supply to Proceed in Parallel
The Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation (Chairman Lee Yoonsang) is moving forward in earnest with support measures for resident relocation.
The corporation announced that, starting January 19, it will begin accepting applications for the "Relocation and Resettlement Support Measures" from residents within the new airport project site in Daehang-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan.
The application period runs from January 19 to February 20, and after the corporation conducts an eligibility review of the applicants, individual notifications will be sent out at the end of March.
The Gadeokdo New Airport construction project involves large-scale processes such as mountain excavation and land reclamation at sea, making the relocation of residents within the project site essential to ensure construction safety and smooth project progress.
Before the full-scale construction begins, the corporation has established this relocation plan to proactively ensure the safety of residents and to help long-term indigenous residents of Gadeokdo maintain a stable livelihood foundation.
To date, the corporation has collected resident feedback through various methods, including conducting a feasibility study on the relocation plan, holding regular meetings with residents, and introducing a prior notice system when establishing relocation guidelines. Based on this input, practical resettlement support measures have been developed.
Resettlement support will be implemented in parallel by developing relocation complexes and allocating residential sites within Eco Delta City, according to resident preferences and individual circumstances. A phased support system will also be operated, supplying temporary relocation housing to prevent any gaps in residence before residents move into their new homes.
Chairman Lee Yoonsang of the corporation stated, "The smooth implementation of the relocation plan is a key prerequisite for the success of the new airport construction project," adding, "We will provide meticulous support so that residents can resettle with peace of mind, and we will do our utmost to ensure that Gadeokdo New Airport, a core national infrastructure, is completed on schedule."
