Geochang County Attracts TOEIC Test Center, Improving Exam Environment for Residents and Students

Geochang, the Educational City
Local Vitality Expected to Rise
with Increased Visits for Testing and Education

Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province is further solidifying its status as an educational city by attracting a TOEIC test center.

Starting in 2026, Geochang Daeseong High School will be designated and operated as a TOEIC test center, providing a convenient testing environment not only for local students and residents but also for test-takers from neighboring areas to take the exam in Geochang.

The first TOEIC test is scheduled to be held on February 8, with registration open from January 14 to February 5. Registration is available through the official YBM language test website.

Until now, test-takers had to travel to nearby major cities to take the TOEIC, which was inconvenient. With the operation of this new test center, the burden of time and cost is expected to be significantly reduced. In particular, this expansion of the local educational infrastructure is meaningful as it meets the learning needs of various groups, including students, job seekers, and working professionals.

Geochang County has already been steadily implementing lifelong education policies, such as adult literacy education, digital literacy education, and youth learning programs, covering all stages of life. With the addition of an accredited language test center, the county has further enhanced its educational ecosystem, seamlessly connecting learning, assessment, and application.

The operation of the TOEIC test center is expected to boost local vitality by increasing the stay and consumption activities of visitors, including test-takers and their guardians. In addition, the county believes that repeated visits for test and educational purposes will have a positive effect on expanding the “one million living population” initiative.

Going forward, Geochang County plans to ensure the stable operation of the TOEIC test center while gradually considering increasing the number of test sessions and attracting various educational and qualification tests in response to demand. Through these efforts, the county aims to expand its living population base, combining education, testing, and extended stays.

A Geochang County official stated, “Attracting the TOEIC test center is a meaningful project that not only strengthens Geochang's image as an educational city but also helps achieve our policy goal of expanding the living population. We will continue to improve learning convenience for residents and work to create an educational environment that attracts people from outside the county.”
