33 Products Developed in Collaboration with Season 2 Chefs Choi Kangrok, Yoon Nara, and Choi Yugang
On January 19, CJ CheilJedang announced the launch of a special edition inspired by the Netflix variety show "Black & White Chef: Culinary Class War." The collaboration will feature a variety of menus from the show, bringing together "Black & White Chef," which ranked No. 1 on Netflix's Global Top 10 Non-English Shows, and CJ CheilJedang's flagship K-food brands such as "Bibigo."
The collaboration consists of a total of 33 products, created in partnership with chefs from Season 2, including Choi Kangrok, Yoon Nara, and Choi Yugang, as well as Kwon Sungjun, the winner of Season 1. The Season 2 chefs participated from the planning stage, proposing their signature dishes and secret ingredients, and sharing their exclusive recipes.
First, in collaboration with Choi Kangrok, the Season 2 winner and master of fusion Japanese cuisine, five varieties of gourmet udon will be introduced, including seaweed udon, kimchi udon, and curry udon. The gourmet udon features a rich and deep broth extracted using a hot water process with katsuobushi, Choi's signature touch, and noodles that are about 20% thicker than regular udon for an enhanced texture. Additionally, the Baeksul 10-Minute Cook Braising Sauce, available in two types (Japanese soy sauce braising sauce and gochujang braising sauce), captures the identity of the "Braising Fairy" and incorporates the chef's meticulous expertise.
Chef Yoon Nara, who appeared as "Yoon Jumo the Brewer," participated in developing various Korean menus such as Bibigo soup dishes, kimchi, tteokbokki, and Hetbahn Cupban. Among them, dishes like pollack soup and zucchini stew, which Yoon presented during the "Black & White Chef 2" competition, have been recreated as Bibigo soup dishes. Other items, such as aged kimchi tuna rice bowl and stir-fried pork and chili rice bowl, inspired by actual menu items sold at "Haebangchon Yoonjudang," are now available as Hetbahn Cupban products.
In collaboration with Choi Yugang, chef of the Cheongdam-dong Chinese fine dining restaurant "Kojacha," four gourmet Chinese dishes (jajang, jjamppong, tangsuyuk, and yuringi), two Chinese Hetbahn Cupban items (malatang rice and mala xiangguo rice bowl), and gourmet malatang noodles are being introduced, allowing consumers to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine at home.
In March, seven new sauces developed in collaboration with Kwon Sungjun, the "Napoli Matfia" and winner of Season 1, and Chef Choi Kangrok will also be released.
Meanwhile, CJ CheilJedang was the only domestic food company to participate as an official special partner in "Black & White Chef 2," supporting the "Bibigo" pantry. The company provided basic ingredients such as sauces and seasonings, as well as flagship products like Hetbahn and dumplings, to promote "Bibigo" to global consumers.
A CJ CheilJedang representative stated, "We hope that consumers will be able to conveniently enjoy the dishes of the chefs from 'Black & White Chef,' which has gained tremendous popularity worldwide, at home through these special products. We will continue to offer even more innovative and diverse products to provide consumers with a richer culinary experience."
