Assemblyman Ahn Dogeol of the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Gwangju Dongnam-eul) took the lead in building a safer local community on January 18 by conducting a wildfire prevention campaign and environmental cleanup activities with local party members around Mudeungsan National Park.

The campaign, held in the morning at the Mudeungsan Global Geopark Center and the entrance to Jeungsimsa Temple, was attended by over 50 members and officials from the Dong-gu and Nam-gu-eul regional party committee, including Assemblyman Ahn Dogeol.

This initiative was organized in response to the increased risk of wildfires during the dry winter season, aiming to protect Mudeungsan, the region's sacred mountain, and to raise public awareness about safety.

Participants displayed banners reading "Wildfire prevention is the beginning of loving Mudeungsan" and "Let’s protect the precious natural resources of the national park from wildfires," while promoting wildfire prevention guidelines to hikers.

In particular, they urged citizens to actively participate by sharing practical precautions, such as prohibiting the possession of flammable materials, cooking, and smoking when entering the mountain. Immediately after the campaign, Assemblyman Ahn and party members collected trash along the trails as part of the environmental cleanup, and took time to engage with local residents on site.

Assemblyman Ahn stated, "Watching citizens visit Mudeungsan even in the cold weather, I once again feel a deep sense of responsibility to protect our region’s valuable assets. Wildfire prevention is not just about issuing warnings; it is the most proactive way to safeguard residents’ lives and safety. I will continue to devote myself to walking alongside residents and keeping our community safe, rather than making grand promises."

He added, "Believing that the answers are found in the field, I reaffirmed the importance of safety while traversing Mudeungsan with local residents. I will directly address each local issue and demonstrate responsible politics by delivering tangible results for the community in response to your support."

Meanwhile, Assemblyman Ahn Dogeol has emphasized "politics that starts in the field" through environmental cleanup activities and a New Year’s kick-off ceremony at the beginning of the year, and continues to focus on local livelihood issues by directly addressing community safety through this wildfire prevention campaign.
