On January 18, former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon expressed his regret as a responsible politician who once led the party, stating, "I am deeply sorry for the situation that has developed to this point and for causing concern to the public and party members regarding the party member bulletin board incident involving my family."

Han posted a video containing these remarks on Facebook that day.
He said, "The disciplinary action against me is clearly fabricated and an act of political retaliation. As we approach a crucial election to overcome martial law and rein in the runaway Democratic Party administration, I am greatly concerned that witnessing such political retaliation will cause many people to turn away from our party."
He continued, "While political retaliation through party authority may strip me of my party membership, it cannot take away the spirit and future of the party I love. I will stand with you to the very end with courage and dedication for the people of the Republic of Korea and for true conservatives."
Previously, the People Power Party's Party Affairs Audit Committee concluded on December 30 that Han's family was involved in the so-called "party member bulletin board incident" and referred the results to the Ethics Committee. On January 13, the Ethics Committee decided to expel Han. Expulsion, which is the most severe disciplinary action that strips a member of party membership, is finalized after approval by the Supreme Council.
