Inje County, Gangwon Province, will select scholarship recipients for the 2026 Inje County Talent Development Fund to nurture local talent.
This scholarship aims to foster a sense of affection for the region and cultivate outstanding individuals who will lead the future. Each university student will receive a scholarship of 5 million won, and each high school student will receive 500,000 won.
The county announced that scholarship applications will be accepted from January 19 to December 4, and recipients will be selected in the order of application among those who meet the selection criteria, within the limits of the budget.
In principle, eligibility requires that the student and at least one parent or guardian who can prove dependency have resided in Inje County for at least two years as of the application date.
However, students currently enrolled in a (high) school located in Inje County may apply regardless of their period of residence. Additionally, students who have changed their address to another region for academic purposes may also apply if at least one parent or guardian who can prove dependency has continuously resided in Inje County for two years or more.
Eligible applicants are categorized as local high school students, domestic and international university students, and students with outstanding talents in arts or sports.
For local high school students, all incoming students planning to attend a local high school are eligible regardless of academic performance, while current students must be ranked within the top 20% of their academic cohort in the previous year.
High school students must apply through their respective schools, while only those with outstanding talents in arts or sports may apply individually.
University students, both incoming and current, at domestic or international universities are eligible. Incoming university students may apply without academic restrictions.
For current domestic university students, the average GPA for both semesters of the previous academic year must be at least 2.5 out of 4.5, and students must have completed at least 12 credits per semester.
For current international university students, grades will be converted to domestic standards. If conversion is difficult, the final decision will be made by the Inje County Talent Development Fund Management and Deliberation Committee.
For students with outstanding talents in arts or sports, eligibility is limited to those who have placed second or higher in a provincial-level official competition or third or higher in a national-level official competition in the previous academic year. Team event winners are also eligible. However, winners of recreational sports competitions or grade-specific competitions are excluded.
Applications may only be submitted online through the Inje County Scholarship Management System or the Inje County Office website. Offline submissions, including in-person, mail, or through township and town administrative welfare centers, will not be accepted.
Further details regarding eligibility and required documents can be found in the announcement posted on the Inje County Office website.
A county official stated, "We will continue to provide practical support so that local students can focus on their studies and pursue their dreams without financial burden," adding, "We will do our utmost to nurture talent who will be responsible for the future of Inje County."
