According to Hanam City on January 18, Deputy Mayor Gong presided over the 'Division Major Work Briefings' for three days starting January 14, in order to quickly grasp the city’s major projects and ensure the seamless implementation of key initiatives.
This briefing session departed from the conventional reporting procedures typically held at the beginning of a new appointment and instead took a practical approach, featuring sharp Q&A exchanges on major issues and priority projects. Deputy Mayor Gong thoroughly shared the progress and administrative challenges of each project with division and department heads, and engaged in in-depth discussions on future strategies and concrete action plans.
In particular, Deputy Mayor Gong closely examined administrative challenges essential for realizing the 'Era of Five Rail Lines,' such as the timely completion of Subway Lines 3 and 9, the successful passage of the main Wirye-Sinsa Line through the preliminary feasibility study, and the inclusion of the GTX-D and GTX-F lines in the National Rail Network Plan-key elements for citizens to experience tangible transportation innovation.
He also called for accelerating the pace of major projects that will serve as future growth engines for Hanam, such as selecting the preferred bidder for the Camp Colbern project, which had been stalled for 19 years, advancing the public contest process for the K-Culture Complex (K-Star World), and establishing the Gyo-san New Town AI Cluster, by directly overseeing their progress.
Deputy Mayor Gong is a seasoned administrative expert who has led the frontlines of local government administration as former Deputy Mayor of Gwacheon City, and has held key positions such as Director of Future Industries and Director of Social Innovation Economy in Gyeonggi Province. The city expects that his extensive experience will be a significant driving force in redrawing Hanam’s economic landscape, including the development of advanced industrial complexes and the attraction of large corporations.
Deputy Mayor Gong emphasized, "I feel a tremendous sense of responsibility as I take on the important role of Deputy Mayor at this crucial golden time for Hanam City’s transition to a self-sustaining city. I will fully utilize the administrative expertise I have accumulated in Gyeonggi Province and in the field to resolve major issues and deliver results that citizens can tangibly experience."
