Temporary Power Outage in Dangsan, Yangpyeong, Yeouido, and Mullae
Korea Electric Power Corporation: "Suspected Substation Equipment Malfunction"

On the afternoon of January 17, a power outage occurred in parts of Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, but was restored within three minutes.
According to Korea Electric Power Corporation and other sources, at approximately 4:21 p.m. on this day, a blackout affected areas including Dangsan-dong, Yangpyeong-dong, Yeouido-dong, and Mullae-dong in Yeongdeungpo-gu, cutting off electricity supply mainly to apartment complexes. The Yeongdeungpo Fire Station also received two reports of a power outage at an apartment in Mullae-dong.
Korea Electric Power Corporation confirmed the outage and immediately began restoration work, resuming power supply at around 4:24 p.m. However, recovery was reportedly delayed in some apartment complexes and other locations that have their own power facilities.
An official from Korea Electric Power Corporation stated, "It appears that the outage was caused by a malfunction in the substation equipment," adding, "We plan to analyze the exact cause."
