Visiting CJ ENM Studio to Put the 'Field Cabinet' into Practice
Meeting with CJ ENM CEO Yoon Sanghyun and Others
"Confirmed Korea's Potential to Lead the Global Production Environment"
"The content industry, when combined with artificial intelligence (AI), has now become a competition for leadership between nations."
This was the statement made by Prime Minister Kim Minseok on January 16 during his visit to the CJ ENM Studio Center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. He expressed the government's commitment to fostering the content sector-one of the pillars of the 'ABCDE (AI, Bio, Content, Defense, Energy)' future strategic industries being promoted by the Lee Jaemyung administration-as part of its vision to become a leading nation in AI-driven culture.
This visit was an effort to realize the 'government close to the field' initiative, which Prime Minister Kim announced in his New Year's address. The event was attended by CJ ENM CEO Yoon Sanghyun, CJ Chief Management Support Officer Heo Minhui, TVING CEO Choi Juhui, as well as creators such as director Jang Taeyu and producer Kim Inha.
Prime Minister Kim visited the 'Virtual Production (VP) Stage,' the largest production facility in Korea, where he experienced virtual filming technology utilizing LED walls. He remarked, "I could feel firsthand how AI and digital technologies expand the imagination and efficiency of content production," and added, "I saw the potential for Korea to lead the global production environment." He then visited the set of the TVING original drama 'Proxy Exam,' which was in the midst of filming, to encourage the production team.
In the subsequent roundtable, he pledged the government's active support for building an ecosystem driven by technological innovation. Prime Minister Kim stated, "To expand the influence of K-culture, we will strengthen international cooperation and actively seek out official development assistance (ODA) projects utilizing K-content." He also emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent as a future growth engine and called for the industry's interest and participation.
