After the ruling party led the passage of the second comprehensive special prosecution law in the National Assembly, the People Power Party criticized, saying, "We question whether the public will sympathize with the repeated and excessive use of special prosecutors."

On the 16th, Chief Spokesperson for the People Power Party Kwak Kyutaek issued a statement, saying, "The Democratic Party is calling for a swift special prosecution as a political offensive ahead of the June local elections under the pretext of alleged insurrection, yet remains completely silent on the 'Unification Church Gate' and the 'nomination fund allegations,' which are at the center of public suspicion."
Spokesperson Kwak further criticized, "Can it really be called politics of fairness and responsibility when they turn a blind eye to suspicions directed at themselves, while repeatedly demanding special prosecutions against their opponents? Instead of using the second comprehensive special prosecution as a ploy to distract the public, they should first clarify their position on the Unification Church special prosecution and the nomination fund special prosecution."
He added, "If they continue to avoid taking a stance on the Unification Church and nomination fund special prosecutions and insist only on the comprehensive special prosecution, it will reveal that this was a political maneuver to evade responsibility, not a genuine effort to uncover the truth."
