The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters stated in a press release on the same day, "The Joint Investigation TF has summoned one civilian suspect for questioning regarding the matter."

The Joint Investigation TF was formed on January 12, led by the Director of the Security Investigation Bureau, and consists of approximately 30 members, including about 20 police officers and 10 military personnel.

Previously, a spokesperson for the General Staff of the Korean People's Army claimed in a statement on January 10 that North Korea had shot down drones allegedly sent by South Korea in September last year and on January 4. In response, the Ministry of National Defense stated that the South Korean military does not possess such drones and pledged to thoroughly investigate the possibility that they were civilian drones.

President Lee Jaemyung ordered a swift and rigorous investigation by the joint military-police investigation team, emphasizing that "if the infiltration by civilian drones is true, it constitutes a serious crime that threatens peace on the Korean Peninsula and national security."
