The Chuncheon Agricultural Technology Center (Director: Hong Soongap) is conducting the New Year Practical Education for Farmers every Tuesday through Friday from January 13 to January 30, for a total of 13 days. The program consists of 11 courses, including agricultural technology, farm management, and eco-friendly practices, with a focus on core cultivation techniques for major crops and education on pest and disease prevention. In addition, training on the Basic Public Direct Payment Program is provided, increasing convenience for elderly farmers who have difficulty with online education.
A total of 1,443 farmers have registered for this year’s program, far exceeding the originally planned capacity of 950, demonstrating strong interest from the local farming community.
In connection with this, Chuncheon Mayor Yook Donghan attended the apple cultivation technology training held at the Agricultural Technology Center’s main auditorium on January 16 and greeted Chuncheon’s farmers.
Mayor Yook stated, “The city will continue to make various efforts so that Chuncheon’s farmers can acquire techniques that can be immediately applied in the field.”
Meanwhile, the Chuncheon Agricultural Technology Center is establishing agricultural policies to respond to climate change, such as heavy rainfall and heat waves, in order to lay the foundation for sustainable agriculture in Chuncheon. At the same time, the center plans to continue providing on-site support so that agriculture can advance as a high-tech industry, and to ensure that new information and technologies are continuously learned and applied in the field. A city official stated, “We will strengthen customized education for each crop to enhance the competitiveness of Chuncheon’s agriculture.”
