Kim Hyunkyum, Chairman of Panstar Group, received the '2025 Proud Sungkyun Alumni Award'.
On January 15, Chairman Kim was honored with the award at the '2026 Sungkyunkwan University Alumni Association New Year's Gathering' held at Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul, alongside Bae Kiho, former President of the North American Alumni Association, Ahn Kyubaek, Minister of National Defense, and Kim Jungwook, the 53rd President of the Korean Bar Association.
Chairman Kim, a graduate of the Department of Civil Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University, founded Panstar Enterprise Co., Ltd. in 1990. He is recognized for establishing unique competitiveness in the shipping and logistics sector and putting the company on a stable track. In particular, his tenure as the 8th and 9th President of the Korea Maritime League and his contributions to the advancement of the maritime industry, as well as to national economic and social development, led to this award.
Chairman Kim has pioneered new maritime logistics routes connecting Korea, China, and Japan, and has led the domestic cruise industry, contributing to the development of the shipping, logistics, and marine tourism sectors. He has also continuously participated in various support and activities for the advancement of his alma mater and the alumni association.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman Kim stated, "Sungkyunkwan University was a beacon in my youth, illuminating the path when I did not know where to go," adding, "I consider this award not just a personal achievement, but an honor bestowed upon me by the name Sungkyunkwan itself."
