Declaration of the "First Year of Future Leap"
Resolution for "Hopeful Yeongdeok" Together with Residents
Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province has unveiled its roadmap for county administration leading up to 2026.
On January 15 and 16, Yeongdeok County held a major business plan briefing for 2026, attended by key executives including County Mayor Kim Kwangyeol, Deputy Mayor Hwang Insu, department heads, and team leaders.

This briefing was convened to review last year's administrative achievements and the progress of the 8th popularly elected government's pledged projects, as well as to develop strategies to ensure that this year's key initiatives deliver tangible results.
Notably, the briefing adopted a group reporting format that brought together departments with similar work functions, thereby strengthening interdepartmental collaboration and policy connectivity.
Yeongdeok County has set this year's administrative theme as "Hopeful Yeongdeok Created Together with Residents," making it clear that the county aims to go beyond overcoming the damage from the North Gyeongsang wildfire that occurred at the end of March last year and use this as a turning point to fundamentally transform the region.
Accordingly, the briefing focused on five key administrative directions: full-scale implementation of the wildfire-affected area regeneration project; revitalizing the local economy; developing Yeongdeok as a tourist city that attracts people; providing welfare for all generations and educational environments for future generations; and building safe and sustainable rural and fishing communities. Each department shared its main project plans for achieving this year's administrative goals and examined potential issues in the implementation process, with an emphasis on discussing swift and efficient execution strategies.
Additionally, with the opening of the Pohang-Yeongdeok Expressway and the full operation of the Donghae Line railway significantly expanding the regional transportation network, a variety of policies were discussed to encourage longer stays by tourists and boost local consumption, reflecting a strong commitment to stimulating the local economy.
Mayor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "This year is a very important year for our county to leap toward a new future," pledging, "All public officials will advance county administration with speed and a proactive attitude to ensure that all residents can experience visible results in their daily lives." He emphasized, "We will prioritize the happiness of our residents, enhance their quality of life, and create a hopeful Yeongdeok where every visitor can be fully satisfied."
