Fostering the Bio Industry
Strengthening the Competitiveness of Local Companies
Hwasun County in South Jeolla Province announced on January 16 that it has been finally selected for the "2026 Local Industry Development Collaboration Project" grant program.
Hwasun County participated in the competition with the theme "Support Project for Revitalizing the Bio Industry to Strengthen the Competitiveness of the Bio-Specialized Complex and Respond to Local Extinction," and was selected. From 2026 to 2027, the county plans to implement a project to support the growth of local companies, focusing on the bio industry within the region.
The total project budget amounts to approximately 2 billion won, of which 1.44 billion won will be provided by the central government.
The "Local Industry Development Collaboration Project" is an initiative led by local governments to foster local industries in response to population decline and to revitalize rural economies. It aims to boost corporate growth and regional vitality through collaboration with central government ministries such as the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Ministry of Justice.
Through this project, Hwasun County will promote customized package support tailored to corporate needs, support for process efficiency, and a workforce recruitment package for hiring foreign production workers (including holding job fairs and providing translation support for guidelines and manuals). The county also plans to collaborate with Jeonnam Technopark to strengthen the competitiveness of the bio industry.
The county expects that being selected for this grant will help lay the foundation for the growth of local companies, create jobs, and revitalize the local economy.
Park Yonghee, Head of the Regional Economy Division, stated, "With the selection of this local industry development project, we will do our utmost to ensure that local companies can experience tangible results by working closely with relevant ministries and organizations."
