Preemptive Elimination of Risk Factors Through On-Site Festival Safety Inspections
Hamyang County in South Gyeongsang Province conducted an on-site safety inspection at the Sangnim Park festival venue to prevent accidents during the 10th Jirisan Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam Festival.
The inspection, which took place on January 15, was attended by 13 representatives from related organizations, including South Gyeongsang Province, Hamyang County, Hamyang Fire Station, Hamyang Police Station, and the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation. They conducted a preemptive inspection of various risk factors within the festival venue and carried out site-focused checks to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors.
The main items inspected included: traffic management and order maintenance measures at the venue; securing emergency exits and evacuation routes within the festival area; ensuring the availability of fire extinguishers and other fire safety facilities; and the safety management status of electrical facilities such as circuit breakers. These checks covered all aspects of festival operations.
In particular, considering that the festival is an outdoor winter event, the team thoroughly inspected the installation of cold weather shelters and the preparation of warming supplies in case of severe cold or adverse weather conditions. They also reviewed plans to deploy safety personnel in areas where large crowds are expected and confirmed whether a rapid response system is in place for emergencies.
Kim Changjin, Director of Safety Management, stated, "The success of the festival begins with safety," adding, "We will do our utmost to proactively eliminate risk factors in all areas-including traffic, electricity, fire safety, and crowd management-so that both residents and tourists can enjoy the festival with peace of mind."
Meanwhile, the 10th Jirisan Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam Festival will be held from January 16 to 18 at the Sangnim Park area in Hamyang, featuring a variety of hands-on activities and performances in addition to dried persimmon sales.
