President Lee Jae-myung, one month ahead of Lunar New Year, asked the public on January 15 to send in their New Year's greetings.
Through his Facebook page that day, President Lee stated, "This year, I would like to share New Year's greetings with everyone by compiling video messages sent from all across the country and even from overseas."
He said, "Sincere voices, warm gazes, and bright expressions wishing each other well will come together to complete 'Lunar New Year for All.' Although we each live our own lives in different places, I believe we will all feel that we are one Korean people celebrating the same holiday."
He continued, "It's okay if it's not perfect or not special. It is our ordinary, everyday lives that have been the greatest strength supporting the Republic of Korea." He then asked, "I hope you will help create a Lunar New Year that will remain in everyone's hearts for a long time. I look forward to your active participation."
Video submissions will be accepted for two weeks, from today until January 28. To participate, simply record a video of about 10 seconds after reading the sentence, 'Happy New Year, everyone,' and submit it.
