Jangheung County in Jeollanam-do announced on January 15 that it had signed a business agreement to promote the activation of high-quality rice distribution.

This agreement was established in line with the central government's "One City/County, One Integrated Rice Processing Complex (RPC)" policy. Under this policy, six local agricultural cooperatives within the county will participate in the existing integrated RPC to enhance efficiency throughout the entire process of rice production, processing, and distribution, and to strengthen the competitiveness of the Jangheung rice industry through the modernization of rice processing facilities.

According to the agreement, these local agricultural cooperatives will participate in the integrated RPC located in Suyang-ri, Anyang-myeon, Jangheung County. This facility is currently operated by the Jeongnamjin Jangheung Agricultural Cooperative and the Jangheung Gwansan Agricultural Cooperative, which jointly established the Jeongnamjin Agricultural Cooperative Rice Joint Business Corporation.

The agreement includes a commitment to mutual cooperation for the development of the rice industry and the establishment of a stable distribution system in accordance with Jangheung County's comprehensive grain industry plan. Jangheung County will provide administrative and financial support, while the agricultural cooperatives will handle all necessary procedures for project application and discuss ways to share project costs. The agreement also reflects a shared commitment to fostering Jangheung rice as a top national brand and increasing farmers' incomes.

Jangheung County and the local agricultural cooperatives also plan to jointly participate in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' 2026 public project for the activation of high-quality rice distribution.

Park Cheolhwan, Chairman of the Jangheung County Cooperative Management Council, stated, "This is an important turning point where local agricultural cooperatives move beyond individual competition toward mutual growth and cooperation," adding, "We will strive to ensure that the integrated RPC is stably established, leading to increased practical benefits for farmers and the sustainable development of the local rice industry."
