Shin Jeonghun, a member of the Gwangju Buk-gu Council from the Democratic Party of Korea, directly criticized Buk-gu Mayor Moon In for his absence from the plenary session after causing controversy by announcing and then retracting his resignation, calling it "an irresponsible act that ignores the voices of residents."

At the plenary session of the 307th extraordinary meeting held on January 15, Assemblyman Shin expressed strong regret through a procedural statement over the cancellation of the urgent current issue question due to Mayor Moon's absence.

He stated, "The mayor's refusal to attend without any explanation is a declaration that only his own political choices matter," adding, "It is an act of abandoning efforts to persuade the residents."

In particular, Assemblyman Shin pointed out the contradiction by referencing Mayor Moon's previous remarks that he would decide his position at the time of city-province integration, stating, "Compared to his current statement of absence, this reveals an inconsistent attitude clinging to his position."

Assemblyman Shin concluded by saying, "I once again condemn the failure to respond to the legitimate demands of the council," and emphasized, "I will request his attendance again to ensure that Mayor Moon provides a responsible explanation in the plenary session."
