Uiseong Libraries: Teaching Beyond Books, Enriching Lives Reading Culture Lecture Series in Uiseong County for the First Half of the Year

Uiseong County announced that it will be accepting applications for the "Reading Culture Lecture Series in Uiseong County for the First Half of 2026" until January 30.

This lecture series will be held from February 10 to May 30 at four local libraries-Angye, Bongyang, Geumseong, and Dain-and consists of programs designed to enhance practical everyday skills as well as personal development.

At Uiseong County Library, 14 courses for adults will be offered, including oil painting on canvas, maximizing smartphone usage, and gayageum (a traditional Korean string instrument), aiming to boost both cultural arts and digital literacy.

Bongyang Onnuri-teo Library will offer 19 courses, such as urban sketching, basic tarot, and storytelling with children's theater. Geumseong and Dain Small Libraries will also provide lifestyle-oriented courses that are in high demand among residents, including kalamba, fabric art calligraphy, and smartphone skills.

Notably, this semester features a greater proportion of newly introduced courses, broadening the program's scope. Courses such as "Urban Sketching," which captures everyday scenes on canvas, "Basic Tarot," which supports self-reflection through tarot, and "Oil Painting on Canvas," which incorporates traditional painting techniques, are gaining attention for offering both cultural enrichment and emotional well-being. A new course for elementary students, "Smart Abacus and Mental Calculation," is also expected to help improve foundational learning skills.

Kim Jusu, Mayor of Uiseong County, stated, "We will ensure that libraries become not only spaces for accumulating knowledge, but also platforms for learning that enrich residents' lives," adding, "We will continue to expand lifelong learning programs that span generations and interests."

The application period runs from January 20 to 30, and all courses are offered free of charge (participants are responsible for material costs). Applications can be submitted via the Uiseong County integrated reservation website, by visiting the libraries, or by phone. For inquiries, please contact Uiseong County Library.
