Bonghwa Responds to "Care Beyond Borders"

Supporting Round-Trip Airfare for Hometown Visits
A Breather for Multicultural Families to Settle and Thrive

Bonghwa County is offering a warm respite for multicultural families living alongside the local community.

The county announced the launch of the "2026 Hometown Visit Support Program for Multicultural Families" to help these families settle stably in the region and restore their family bonds.

The initiative aims to provide an opportunity for rest and renewal to marriage immigrant families who have faithfully lived as members of the community despite cultural differences and economic challenges.

This program goes beyond simply supporting overseas visits; it focuses on helping marriage immigrants restore emotional ties with their families in their home countries, thereby enabling a more stable settlement in Korean society.

The county plans to continue its policy support so that multicultural families can be recognized not just as "recipients of support" but as "partners in the community."

Applications will be accepted from January 14 to January 23 at local township and town offices. After a review process, a total of seven families will be selected, and each selected family will receive round-trip airfare support for a hometown visit, up to a maximum of 3 million won per household.

Bonghwa County intends to use this program as a starting point to move beyond one-time support for multicultural families, organically linking policies on education, family, and settlement support to help them adapt to and become self-reliant in the community.

Kim Kyungsook, Director of Education and Family Affairs at Bonghwa County, said, "Multicultural families are precious neighbors who live with us today and help build our tomorrow in Bonghwa. I hope that supporting visits to their home countries will be a time of healing and recovery for families, and will lead to stronger trust and solidarity in the community."

It remains to be seen whether a short journey home can lead to a long-term future rooted in the region. This policy from Bonghwa County once again clearly demonstrates the direction of mutual growth for multicultural families and the local community.
