KGA Expands Humanoid Power Solution to AI Drones... "MOU Signed with Goseong Engineering"

On January 15, KGA announced that it had signed a technology agreement with Goseong Engineering to jointly develop an integrated battery-cover for next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) drones. The agreement centers on merging KGA’s expandable power solution (molded battery), which is currently under development, with the drone case cover.

KGA Expands Humanoid Power Solution to AI Drones... "MOU Signed with Goseong Engineering"

The two companies plan to closely collaborate in various areas to develop the integrated battery-cover for AI drones, including joint research and development of drone products, production and performance verification of prototypes, product commercialization, overseas marketing, and participation in government and public institution research projects.

Goseong Engineering, the company that signed the agreement, is an engineering tech firm that has recently been growing rapidly, particularly in the field of robot system integration (SI). The company has attracted industry attention by carrying out numerous projects for major domestic and international robotics companies, and is expanding its business into future mobility sectors such as AI drones.

As the importance of drones has been demonstrated through the wars in the Middle East and between Ukraine and Russia, countries around the world, including South Korea, are striving to secure drone technology capabilities. In particular, as drone operation environments become increasingly complex-such as through the advancement of anti-drone systems and large-scale swarm flights-efforts to integrate AI technology into drones are also intensifying.

Goseong Engineering is one of the companies proactively responding to these market changes. According to the company, this agreement is also a strategic move to further strengthen the competitiveness of its AI drones under development. While miniaturization and weight reduction are cited as key elements for drones, the limited battery capacity and resulting operational time constraints have long been chronic challenges in the industry.

KGA’s expandable power solution is a new form factor that integrates the protective cover and battery, dramatically increasing the battery capacity of the drone body. As a result, it can be expanded and applied to various fields, including future mobility, humanoid robots, and AMR/AGV systems.

A company representative stated, “Through this agreement, the application platform for our expandable power solution business has officially expanded beyond humanoids and robots into the future mobility sector. In particular, since AI drones can be utilized in a variety of areas, including military, logistics, and distribution, we expect to secure a large and stable source of revenue.”

He added, “We will continue to focus on expanding the range of application platforms to further vitalize the expandable power solution ecosystem. To this end, we will continue to expand our network and pursue collaboration with leading companies in each industry sector.”
