Pilot Food Delivery Robot Service Expanded in Partnership with Yogiyo
Delivery Now Available from 130 Establishments... Resident Satisfaction Reaches 95%
The construction division of Samsung C&T Corporation is expanding its innovative autonomous delivery robot service, which delivers food directly to apartment entrances, in collaboration with the delivery platform Yogiyo.
Last year, Samsung C&T completed a pilot project for a food delivery robot service at Raemian Leaders One in Seocho-gu, Seoul, in partnership with autonomous robot company Neubility. The company resolved key technical challenges for food delivery robots within the complex, such as automatic opening and closing of shared entrance doors and integration with elevator calls.
Samsung C&T established a door-to-door commercial service, enabling the robot to deliver directly to residents' front doors, after discussions with the residents' representative committee and the management office. During the pilot period, 95% of residents who used the food delivery robot service reported satisfaction.
Beginning this year, Samsung C&T is expanding the food delivery robot service, previously operated only near Raemian Leaders One, to a broader area. By partnering with Yogiyo, the service will now cover approximately 130 food and beverage establishments within a 1.2-kilometer radius, offering residents more choices and aiming to further increase satisfaction.
The food delivery robot autonomously travels at normal walking speed, ensuring safe movement within the complex. Only the person who placed the order can pick up the delivery, which guarantees that food is delivered intact and undamaged. In addition, the service reduces potential risks associated with delivery vehicles moving through the complex and addresses concerns about unauthorized external visitors.
Samsung C&T has been building an ecosystem for robot utilization in residential spaces by piloting various services, including a home AI companion robot for seniors △a basement parking lot luggage delivery robot, and more. The company plans to continue offering greater convenience and driving innovation through robot services that seamlessly integrate into daily life.
Samsung C&T has already successfully applied robot solutions in various fields, such as constructing a robot-friendly building (Naver 1784 in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province), establishing an integrated office robot control system (Aju Smart Tower in Gangdong-gu, Seoul), and operating a food delivery robot service at a golf course (Anyang Country Club).
